A hint of oak and leather on a full, rich and fruity wine. This is an easy wine to quaff and exceptional value.

The grape varieties of the Rhone Valley and the Southwest are varied and somewhat confusing at first. The tastes of Grenache and Syrah are familar, but the varieties widely used with the two leaders are less so. The Carignan is one such grape – widely used to accompany Grenache, it is often used alone, making a wine that is less volatile. This is a fine example of its kind. combining its hallmark spicy quality with a hint of leather in the palate that settles into a long satisfying finish. The overall effect is full but not over-rich, a wine of coherent character that will win through with a rich meat dish or a full cheese.

Product reviews
A superb wine
This is a grape I've never really come across before (knowingly anyway!). It has a lovely smooth buttery smell and spices as you swallow. We drank it over a couple of days and it seemed to get even better on the second day. Definitely a wine I will come back to again and again.
